Anathallo - Hanasakajijii (Four: A Great Wind More Ash)
Released 4 February 2008 on Big Scary Monsters
I bought this on a whim because it was on sale for £1.50 when I was buying a Joyce Manor cassette from BSM because I am That Gurl, and it was one of the wisest decisions because it is one of my favourites in my 7 inch collection. The A side “Hanasakajijii (Four: A Great Wind More Ash)" is such a wonderful song, it’s truly musically excellent and there’s so many little sections that are so great, especially the chorus and the later vocal part with the male and female voices at once and all together, it’s so much more than the sum of its parts. Whenever I listen to it, I have it in my head for so long and usually that bugs me, but it doesn’t with this song. That’s how good it is. The B-side "Entropy" doesn’t quite invoke the same enjoyment from me, but it is still really very nice, the twinkly section around the one minute mark and the mellow, vocal oriented section at about four minutes in are both really great.
The only sad thing is that I only found this band quite a whole load of time after they stopped making music and I find it kind of odd that one of them is now in fun(fullstop).
"Interiors (New Song!)" by Crash Of Rhinos
New album “Knots” out July 22nd via Big Scary Monsters in the UK, Topshelf Records in the US, and To Lose La Track in Italy.
This album is going to destroy lives. Topshelf Records consistently killing it. From the two songs I’ve heard… this could top “Distal”… just saying…

Axes - Axes
This band have come out of nowhere. Instrumental bands such as this show that you don’t need lyrics to make a great soundtrack. Utilising math rock, punk, noise, ambient and whatever else, it’s very good and fun record to get your chops into.
Gnarwolves - Funemployed
