I finally got my hands on the 12” of this record yesterday! Annoyingly I haven’t got my record player at the moment to give it a spin but I have spent the past month hammering it digital style! It’s called Miles Of Mad Water and it’s the 5th album in four years from Shoes And Socks Off, which is the brain child of extremely talented singer/sonwriter/musician Toby Hains. Over the years, Shoes And Socks Off has flited between hushed acoustics, lo-fi electro to full band post-punk noise pop. The general vibe of this record is fuzzy yet melodic electronica, taking influences from Kid A / Amnesiac era Radiohead and the melancholic indie fuzz of LA trio Autolux. There’s also a few acoustic numbers on there for fan’s of SASO’s more fragile moments, but there is a general vibe that run’s through out this record, production wise that makes this Toby’s most cohesive piece of work to day. In my opinion his best record yet! EndlesslyDistractedEndlesslyDistracted!
